Precautions for using stainless steel elbows
Stainless steel elbows are resistant to weak corrosive media such as air, steam, and water, and chemical corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, and salts. It is also called stainless acid-resistant steel. In practical applications, steel resistant to weak corrosive media is usually called stainless steel elbows, and steel resistant to chemical media corrosion is called acid-resistant steel. Due to the different chemical compositions of the two, the former is not sure whether it can resist chemical media corrosion, while the latter is generally stainless steel. Chromium-containing stainless steel elbows also have mechanical strength and high elongation, and are easy to process and manufacture parts to meet the needs of architects and structural designers. All metals react with oxygen in the atmosphere to form an oxide film on the surface.
The corrosion resistance (mainly based on actual reports) of stainless steel elbows depends on the alloying elements contained in the steel. Chromium is the basic element that makes stainless steel elbows corrosion-resistant (mainly based on actual reports). When the chromium content in steel reaches about 1.2%, the action of chromium and oxygen in the corrosive medium forms a thin oxide film (self-passivation film) on the steel surface, which can prevent further corrosion of the steel matrix.
90° stainless steel elbow is mainly used as one of the connection joints of the pipeline, used for the bending connection of the pipeline, connecting two pipelines with the same or different nominal diameters, and rotating the pipeline 90°.
Characteristics of stainless steel: strength and toughness indicators are good among all kinds of steel. Stainless steel needs to be used in highly corrosive occasions, such as chemical industry, papermaking, etc. Of course, the cost is also relatively high!
Precautions for the use of stainless steel elbows
1. During installation, the stainless steel elbow can be directly installed on the pipeline according to the connection method, or it can be installed according to the use position. Under normal circumstances, it can be installed at any position of the pipeline, but it needs to be sealed to prevent flushing leakage and prevent pipeline leakage. Have a positive impact.
2. When using ball valves, stop valves, and gate valves with stainless steel elbows, they can only be fully opened or fully closed, and flow adjustment is not allowed to avoid sealing.
3. In order to preserve stainless steel elbows for a long time, they should be checked regularly, keep the exposed surface clean, remove dirt, and store neatly in a ventilated and dry place indoors. It is strictly forbidden to stack and store in the open air, keep the stainless steel elbows dry and ventilated at all times, keep the protective ring clean and tidy, and store them according to the correct storage method.
