Production process of straight seam elbow

Straight seam elbow is a pipe fitting used for turning. It accounts for about 80% of the total number of pipe fittings used in the pipeline system. And for elbows of different materials, different forming processes can generally be selected. The straight seam elbow forming processes commonly used by manufacturers include hot pressing, extrusion and other processes. The hot push forming process of hot push elbow is to use a one-to-one elbow push plate, core mold and heating device to make the flat material on the mold move forward under the push of the ejector, and shrink and bend during heating, expansion and extrusion.

Its deformation characteristics are to determine the inner diameter of the pipe according to the law that the volume of the metal material remains unchanged before and after plastic deformation. Make the compressed metal at the inner arc flow, and it can also compensate for other parts that have become thinner due to expansion, so as to obtain an elbow with uniform wall thickness. In general, the forming process of straight seam elbow has the characteristics of continuous operation and is suitable for mass production. Therefore, it has become the main forming method of alloy steel elbows, so, under certain circumstances, it can also be used for the forming of some stainless steel elbows. Its heating methods include high-frequency induction heating, flame heating and reverberatory furnace heating.

And the heating method of the straight seam elbow also depends on the requirements of the formed product. In the production of ordinary elbows, other forming processes are replaced. And in some elbow specifications, but due to low output or too thin. So it will only be used when the product has special requirements.

The straight seam elbow is composed of a pipe with the same outer diameter as the elbow, which is directly pressed into the mold with a press. Before stamping, the cylinder is placed on the lower die, and the inner core and end die are installed in the cylinder. The upper die moves down and begins to press. The straight seam elbow consists of an outer die constraint and an inner die support. In the hot push forming process, the outer arc of the seam elbow is in a stretched state during the forming process, so the outer arc wall thickness is reduced by about 10%.

And because the straight seam elbow has the characteristics of single-piece production, the stamping elbow process is mostly used in the manufacture of small batches of thick-walled elbows. Stamping straight seam elbows have hot stamping. Hot stamping is usually selected according to material properties and equipment capacity. His forming process is to put the tube into the outer mold with a one-to-one bending machine.

In the production of straight seam elbows, the elbows formed by cold extrusion with inner and outer dies have small dimensional deviation. Therefore, this process is often used for stainless steel elbows, especially thin-walled stainless steel elbows. The inner and outer dies used in this process have good precision and strict deviation requirements. The middle plate is processed into half of the elbow section by a press, and then the two sections are welded together. However, due to its relatively complex process, high difficulty in operation, and inferior forming quality to the above process, it is rarely used.
